So, with Zack’s blessing (and some beer money), the “Maggie Promo Campaign” was born.
The first piece drew further inspiration from the French New Wave, resulting in a kind of “trailer” for the video:
The French is correct. I checked.
The post-release promotional content were simple re-edits of scenes from the video, but with an emphasis on playfulness & tactility. The graphic design in particular establishes a kind of “1 vs 1” dynamic between Zack and the titular Maggie, with the promise of their adventures enticing the viewer. The Impact
What started as a cheap, simple project to support a bigger single quickly became “the little song that could,” finding itself organically appearing on tastemaker’s playlists & Sirius XM channels while also being treated as a single in its own right, securing a premiere with a full interview on Under The Radar.
The song’s success culminated in being the lead-off track on the “A Tempting Future” compilation released by Vinyl Moon - a vinyl record distribution & curation source - that was a top seller the year of its release.
